Description

This is the Valentine’s Day Adventure for those of us who live for the spooky. Grab your boo and get on the bus because we’re gonna buy you a Bloody Mary and take you on a long walk through a few historic cemeteries before making some creepy arts and crafts together.

We’re starting the day at Greenwich Time Pub to enjoy a Bloody Mary while our resident graveyard expert (really) takes us on a talk of burial practices throughout the history of Detroit. You’ll hear some cool stories, at least one of which has to do pickling. Yeah, it’s gnarly.

Once we’re all learned up, we’ll head out to three of Detroit’s most historic cemeteries to spot some of the practices we’ve just learned about in real life and hear a bit more about the history of each cemetery. In the spirit of Valentine’s Day, we’ll also hear some stories of unrequited love centered on the cemetery’s residents because we’re not total monsters. Aww.

We’ll wrap up back at Greenwich Time Pub, where you’ll have a chance to try your hand at a real deal Victorian-era burial practice: making a tussy-mussie. We love you, so you’ll get to take your flowers (spoiler alert: tussy-mussies involve flowers) home in remembrance of our beautiful creepy dark Valentine’s Day together.

Facts. Crafts. Booze. Burials. You can’t beat this.

it's creepy tiiiiime

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

We’re meeting at a pub, eh? Are any drinks included?
We’ll have a full-on Bloody Mary bar for you to enjoy during our cemetery expert’s presentation. The first one is on us. The bar will be open if you’d like to purchase anything else before we head out. When we return to Greenwich Time Pub to make Tussy-Mussies, the bar is open if you’d like to order drinks.

This sounds like my lunch time. Will there be food?
You’re welcome to order food when we return to Greenwich Time Pub after the cemeteries at 1:45PM, but you should come full enough to last until then. Ain’t no time for Reubens.

Does Greenwich Time Pub take credit cards?

Yep! Sure does!

Will I totally miss out on the Valentine’s Day spirit if I take this tour? I don’t wanna be a downer!
Not at all! We’re including love stories for you- plus you’ll get to make and keep a tussy mussy, which we promise you’ll like. And it’s done by 2:30PM so you can still go have a mushy dinner somewhere.

What happens if I miss the bus? Will the bus wait for me if I’m late?
Unfortunately we can’t hold up the bus for late comers, there’s a schedule we gotta keep. Be on tiiiime please.

Can I drink on the bus?
Yep, you definitely can. Because this is a history tour we’re asking you to take it very easy. Think less hardcore, more White Claw. If you’re looking for a little more party to go with your history, our historic bar tour Drunks of Antiquity is real good at that.

What about food and soft drinks?
Snacks and soft drinks are cool! We just ask you leave them on the bus when we enter our locations. These locations aren’t plastic-wrapped like grandma’s couch.

What if I can’t show up? Will my friend be able to go instead?
Totally. Just let us know ahead of time via [email protected] and we’ll update your tickets with the new name or send them with your printed tickets.

Will you be selling extra seats at the bus?
Nope. Sorry. All passes gotta be bought online. There’s a limited number of seats and we want you to have plenty of room – no roof riders no matter how cool that might sound.

What about weather SNAFUs?
We live in Michigan. Sometimes Mother Nature likes to throw us a curveball. We keep safety as our highest priority. In case of gnarly weather, you’ll receive an email the day of the event with a raincheck/snowcheck date. If you cannot make the rescheduled date, you’ll get a voucher good for a future tour with us or a refund.

i'm just real stoked on bloody marys

PSST! We also offer this experience as a private tour for large groups if that’s more your speed. You choose the day, the pickup location and we’ll handle the rest. More here.
