Why drive for DBC

Driving as a career, not just a job

A thriving wage.

We believe in a thriving wage so you can focus on your responsibilities rather than worrying about your finances. We aim to pay near the top of our field for our city.

Buses worth showing up for.

Renovated vintage coaches, hand-painted by Detroit artists. You will never lose your bus in a parking lot, and strangers will wave at you all day.

Work that means something.

We care for people, planet, and then profit — in that order. Every ride sold helps fund Ride For Ride, our free school runs for Detroit students. Some days you'll be the one driving them.

Riders who notice.

Our drivers are rated 9/10 by 1,025 surveyed guests. That doesn't happen by accident, and it doesn't happen without you.

What we look for

The rare mix

We hand-select our drivers from hundreds of applicants to find the ones with the rare mix of top-shelf driving ability, customer care, and youth awareness.

  • You love transporting people. As a driver you're the front line of our customer service team — great problem-solving and a stellar communicator, even when the news is less than stellar.
  • Compassion, tuned up. Highly tuned senses of compassion and empathy, and a drive to constantly help others.
  • Experience behind something big. We love a deep understanding of the transportation industry — our driving roles are for experienced CDL-B operators.
  • Your own perspective. We strongly encourage candidates of all backgrounds and identities to apply. Fresh viewpoints are how we get better.
