The Detroit Bus Company is taking this one off the bus for our Discover Downtown Walking Tour! Whether you live in Detroit or want to explore the Paris of the Midwest for the first time, this one’s a walk to remember. We’ll step inside some of Detroit’s most iconic buildings, catch a glimpse of some of the city’s amazing public artwork, and hear stories about Detroit’s worldwide impact.

From indoor waterfalls to outdoor circuses.

Whether you’re new here or looking to learn more about your home town, we’ll walk you through how the city got where it is today. Ever wonder where Eight Mile is eight miles from? Why are American and Lafayette Coney right next to each other? Walk away with everything you need to know about one of the country’s oldest cities. While your cell service provider might think you’re in Canada, this walk around Detroit’s center of commerce will leave you just as captivated with the Motor City as we are.

Schedule
This tour runs every Tuesday & Friday at 10:30am. The tour is approximately two hours long. Book your tickets using the fancy “book now” link near the top of the page.

Pickup
This tour begins in the lobby of the One Campus Martius, 1050 Woodward Ave (formerly the Compuware Building).

Refund Policy
We’ll gladly refund your tickets in full 14 days prior to the day of the event. After that, there’s no refunds. Sorry to be so mean about it.

FAQ’s

What happens if I miss the group? Will it wait for me if I’m late?

We can’t hold the tour for you if you’re late. Sorry to be so mean about that. However, as it is a walking tour, we’re pretty easy to spot. 

Is this tour family-friendly?

Yes, this tour is designed to include everyone. The whole family can come! However, please know this is two hours of walking. 

What if I can’t show up? Will my friend be able to go instead?

Totally. Just let us know ahead of time via [email protected] and we’ll update your tickets with the new name or send them with your printed tickets.

What about weather SNAFUs?

We live in Michigan. Sometimes Mother Nature likes to throw us a curveball. We keep safety as our highest priority. In case of gnarly weather, you’ll receive an email the day of the event with a raincheck/snowcheck date. If you cannot make the rescheduled date, you’ll get a voucher good for a future tour with us.
