Frequently Asked Questions

What’s this all about? Short answer? We’re working to help build a connected Detroit. Slightly less short answer? We believe Detroit is stuck in one big car-based hangover. Freeways zig-zag through our communities getting us where we want to go quickly, but there’s nowhere to park. Buses and trains simply make more sense: We all win when we travel together.

Why? Because the city needs it. We’ve been told time and time again that Detroit doesn’t have enough people to warrant a world-class public transit system and we firmly believe this idea is incorrect. Transit isn’t a result of demand – it creates demand. People expect their cities to have a clean, fast, reliable transit system that gets them where they want to go right when they need to go there. We won’t retain and attract more of the world’s brilliant builders, thinkers, doers and makers without offering the services they expect.

What happened to your weekend bar service? Our weekend bar service was a great start for us. It ran from May 2012 until December 2012 and really taught us a ton about how people and buses work together best. It was a small market niche that we could bite off from the get-go and work to deliver folks on-time every time. While this was great fun for us and our riders, we really started the DBC to solve Detroit’s larger transit issues. The bar service took a ton of our time and energy and we felt as a small company we couldn’t do both to the high level of quality we demand of ourselves. We’ll be bringing our bar service back in some form in the near future, but for now we’re working heartily on bigger issues.

We do everything we can to make our service work for you and the City of Detroit. Be a part of this transformation of our city’s transit by using a kind of service that only can be found in Detroit.
